Peach State Performance Dogs is a club for people and dogs that want to work. We do not require any member to join any other organization to be a member of our club. However, most organizations require the dog to be registered with their organization to participate in their events and may require a membership and/or a scorebook. We train every Monday and Wednesday, and an occasional Saturday or Sunday. Many times these weekend training sessions turn into a social event in addition to a training day. We usually train hard, cook out, then train hard again. Often a Saturday training session may begin at 9:00 AM and we will still be out there at 9:00 PM! We do not require any member to subscribe to any style of training, nor do we require any member to participate in any type of training. We may restrict some members from participating in protection training until such time they demonstrate the ability to control their dog, and both the owner and the dog display the required level of maturity. We do not allow any style of training that is considered to be cruel or abusive. With that said, we realize compulsion has a place in any competition training, and when the time and situation dictates, we will assist with pinch collars or e-collars. We require all dogs to be current on rabies, distemper and parvo. We ask members to be considerate of others and not bring sick dogs to the field. If your dog turns up sick after a training session, please notify other members so preventative measures can be taken. Peach State Performance Dogs will limit the number of members to one that is reasonable based on the type and level of training and percentage of members that actively participate. We are currently interviewing new members to fill a few slots of members that were not invited to renew their membership. We are happy to announce that we have begun to accept applications for our newest type of membership, Associate Membership. Associate members meet once a week, and are enrolled in a structured 6 week course. Associate members may participate in all trials and seminars at the same price as regular members. Our members are very active. We have a high turnout at every training session. Special events render about an 80% turnout! We offer private sessions for members that need the extra attention in a particular area. Membership dues are due no later than 1 June of each year, and will expire 31 May of the following year. Members not paid in full or not in good standings, may be removed from the rolls and the next person on the waiting list added. Persons interested in becoming a member of PSPD should contact Jerry for a visitor's pass. You can then attend one of our training sessions. This will give you a chance to meet everyone, and for everyone to meet you. You can see how we train. Due to insurance restrictions, you cannot participate in training, however, we can evaluate your dog for you. And, if all goes well, you can fill out an application for membership.
